Review Summary

A Mini-Burger Restaurant Worth Visiting More Than Once

Der kleine Flo is a small burger restaurant in Munich Altstadt-Lehel with a clear mini-burger idea. Instead of ordering one large burger, I chose two or three small burgers and paired them with sides and dips. At lunch, I paid €13.90 for a menu with three mini burgers, a drink, a side, and a dip. In the evening, my meal with burgers, a side, and a drink usually came to €20–30 per person. On one visit with two mini burgers, sweet potato fries, truffle mayo, and two cocktails, I paid €35. The service was mostly friendly, the food came quickly, and the format made repeat visits fun. The weak points were the small dining room, tight seating, some dry buns, and a few burgers where the sauce overpowered the filling.

Visit Time and Waiting

Lunchtime Visit

At lunch, I could usually sit down without waiting when I avoided the busiest time. Around 3 p.m., the restaurant was calmer, and the food arrived quickly. It worked well for a relaxed meal in central Munich.

Evening Visit

In the evening, a reservation was the better choice. The restaurant is small, and seats fill quickly. I once managed to get a bar seat spontaneously, and another time I had to sit outside. For two people, walking in can work, but for groups I recommend booking ahead.

Prices and Payment

Lunch Menu Price

For lunch, I paid €13.90 for three mini burgers, a drink, a side, and a dip. For central Munich, that was a fair deal. However, once I selected special burgers, larger drinks, or extras, the bill rose quickly. A €13.90 menu turned into roughly €18 after add-ons.

Dinner Price

At dinner, I usually paid €20–30 per person for two or three mini burgers with a side, dip, and drink. With cocktails, the total went higher. For two mini burgers, sweet potato fries, truffle mayo, and two cocktails, I paid €35. It is easy to spend more once drinks and extras are added.

Payment

I paid by card and cash on different visits. Card payment was convenient. Small desserts, drinks, and upgrades can raise the final bill, so it is worth checking the order while selecting items.

Mini-Burger Review

Pulled Pork Burger

The pulled pork burger was the safest choice for me. The meat was juicy, well seasoned, and suited the small burger format. It stood out more than most other options. If I had to recommend only one burger, I recommend the pulled pork burger.

Crispy Truffle Chicken Burger

The crispy truffle chicken burger was strong when it came out well. The chicken was crisp, and the truffle mayo gave it a rich flavor. On one visit, though, the chicken was fried too long, and the bun was dry. This burger depends heavily on how fresh it comes out of the kitchen.

Cheeseburger with Bacon

The bacon cheeseburger was a solid classic choice. Cheese, bacon, and the patty worked well together, especially with fries or a cold drink. When the bun was dry, however, it became too dominant.

Weisswurst Burger and Leberkäse Burger

The Weisswurst burger and Leberkäse burger gave the meal a Munich touch. The Weisswurst burger was mild and soft, while the Leberkäse burger was saltier and more distinctive. Anyone wanting something more local than a standard burger should try one of these.

Goat Cheese Burger and Halloumi Burger

The goat cheese burger had a strong cheese flavor and worked well as part of a mini-burger set. The halloumi burger was salty and firm, which made it one of the more noticeable vegetarian options. On one visit, the halloumi was too salty, but it still remained an interesting meat-free choice.

Vegetarian and Vegan Options

The vegetarian and vegan options were broad enough for a full meal without meat. Some vegetarian burgers were very good, while others felt less memorable because the sauce and bun took over. Some vegetarian choices came with an additional charge, so checking the order before confirming is useful.

Sides and Dips

Fries

The fries were one of the strongest parts of the meal. They arrived hot and crisp and matched the burgers well. Even when a burger was not perfect, the fries were usually satisfying.

Sweet Potato Fries

The sweet potato fries were crisp outside and soft inside. They tasted especially good with truffle mayo. I would order them again on another visit.

Truffle Mayo

The truffle mayo was the best dip. It was creamy, rich, and worked with both regular fries and sweet potato fries. It came through better as a separate dip than inside a burger.

Salad and Coleslaw

The salad was fresh, though the dressing felt a little heavy on one visit. The coleslaw worked better with the burgers and helped balance the richness of the meal.

Drinks and Desserts

Lemonades and Cocktails

The lemonades looked good and leaned sweet. The strawberry-lime lemonade was fresh and easy to recommend. Once, the carbonation was weak, and the drink tasted flat. The spicy mango mojito tasted good but was not very spicy.

Water and Drink Prices

The water felt expensive. The burger prices can look fair at first, but drinks and extras raise the bill quickly. In the evening, cocktails can move the total far above the lunch price.

Cheesecake and Chocolate Cake

The blueberry cheesecake was a good small dessert after the burgers. The chocolate cake was rich and sweet. The small desserts in glasses matched the restaurant’s mini concept, though they were not especially cheap.

Atmosphere and Seating

Small Restaurant with a Clear Identity

The restaurant was small, modern, and charming. Mini burgers, small cutlery, small dessert glasses, and the plating all matched the idea. It is a good place for casual dining and food photos.

Tight Seating and Noise

The tables were close together. When the restaurant was full, I sat very near other guests, and the room became louder. On one visit, the inside also felt warm. The dim lighting was cozy but not always practical while eating.

Outdoor Seats

The outdoor seats were pleasant in good weather. In colder weather, blankets or hot water bottles helped. When there was nearby traffic or construction noise, sitting outside was less relaxing.

Service and Friendliness

Order Explanation

On my first visit, the staff explained the ordering process clearly. I chose burgers, a side, and a dip and built the menu myself. The order sheet made the process easy.

Speed

The food usually came quickly. Allergy-related requests were taken seriously, and the staff checked details with the kitchen.

Weaker Moments

The service was not perfect every time. On one visit, the response to a small side-only order felt uncomfortable. Another time, payment took longer than expected. Overall, though, the service remained friendly and attentive.

Restroom and Comfort

Restroom

The restroom was clean and well maintained. For a small restaurant, it was in good condition.

Accessibility

The entrance and restroom access are not comfortable for everyone. With a wheelchair, stroller, or large bags, the narrow space and steps can be inconvenient.

Parking

No Easy Parking

There is no convenient dedicated parking at the restaurant. Parking in this part of central Munich is difficult.

Better Way to Arrive

I recommend coming by public transport. If arriving by car, it is better to plan for a paid parking garage or paid street parking and allow extra time.

Pros and Cons

Pros

The biggest advantage is the chance to try several mini burgers in one meal. The pulled pork burger, crispy truffle chicken burger, fries, sweet potato fries, and truffle mayo were the highlights. Friendly service and fast food delivery also made the visits enjoyable.

Cons

The main drawbacks are the small dining room, tight seating, and uneven burger quality. Some buns were dry, some burgers tasted too much like sauce, and some chicken options were too dry. Parking is difficult, and drinks can raise the bill quickly.

Satisfaction and Revisit Intention

Overall Satisfaction

My overall satisfaction was high. Not every burger was perfect, but the restaurant has a clear idea and makes the meal fun. The concept works especially well with friends or family.

Recommendation

I would return, but I would make a reservation. For a first visit, I recommend the pulled pork burger, sweet potato fries, and truffle mayo. Anyone who cares most about very juicy buns should lower expectations a little. Anyone who wants to try several burger flavors in small portions should visit.

Location Description

From Sendlinger Tor

Der kleine Flo is easy to reach from Sendlinger Tor. From the square, walk toward Asamkirche and continue into the smaller old-town streets. The restaurant is not on a major main road, so it is best to watch the surrounding side streets carefully.

From Marienplatz

It is also walkable from Marienplatz. Walk toward Rindermarkt and Hackenstraße, then continue toward Asamkirche. The location works well before or after visiting Marienplatz, Viktualienmarkt, or Sendlinger Tor.
