KING's HOTEL Stay at a Glance
A convenient Munich hotel with strong service and a few real drawbacks
KING's HOTEL is a good choice if you want a Munich hotel near Central Station. The station is only a short walk away, the tram stops right outside, and Marienplatz, the Old Town, museums, Christmas market areas, restaurants, and shopping streets are easy to reach. The rooms were generally clean, the beds were comfortable, and breakfast was one of the better parts of the stay. Breakfast cost €19.80 per person and included pastries, coffee, tea, eggs, cheese, ham, yogurt, fruit, and hot dishes. The front desk service, luggage storage, and check-in process were very good. The main downsides were tram noise in street-facing rooms, occasional air-conditioning issues, bathroom smells in some rooms, weak room lighting, and no standard kettle.
KING's HOTEL Check-in and Payment
Check-in experience
Check-in at KING's HOTEL was quick and easy. The hotel uses a digital check-in system, and the front desk staff helped right away when the machine was not clear. Passport and booking checks were handled smoothly, without a long wait. On an early arrival, the room was already ready and check-in was allowed right away. That was very helpful after arriving at Munich Central Station early in the morning.
Card payment and extra charges
The room rate was prepaid online by card. At the hotel, breakfast, bar drinks, and restaurant charges were also paid by card. At checkout, there were no surprise room charges. The confirmed on-site breakfast price was €19.80 per person. The hotel offers a €10 voucher when daily housekeeping is skipped. The voucher can be used toward food or drinks at the hotel, but I recommend confirming the exact use with the front desk before using it, because the explanation was not always the same.
Checkout and luggage storage
Checkout was fast and could be completed online in advance. Only used services were checked at departure. Luggage storage was one of the most useful services. Bags could be stored before check-in and after checkout in secure lockers. The lobby also had seating and toilets, making it easy to wait before heading to the airport or train station.
KING's HOTEL Room Types
Double room
The double room felt spacious for one person and comfortable enough for two, depending on the exact room. There was space to open a suitcase, and the room included a desk, small wardrobe, safe, fridge, and coffee machine. The bed was firm but comfortable. The bedding was clean and soft enough, and the pillows were not too high. It was a good room for a short Munich hotel stay near the train station.
Twin room and compact rooms
Twin rooms varied in size. Some had enough space for two guests, while smaller rooms became tight with two large suitcases open. Still, the room setup was practical, with a coffee machine, air conditioning, small fridge, safe, and free water. The lighting was a weak point. There was no strong main light, so packing at night was less convenient. In some rooms, the TV was mounted to the side of the bed rather than straight ahead.
Family room
The family room was spacious and worked well for a family stay. The baby cot was solid, and there was enough room for luggage. In winter, the room stayed warm, and the carpet made it more comfortable. Hot water in the bathroom was reliable. The main missing item was a kettle. The coffee machine can be used for hot water, but tea drinkers or families with small children should request a kettle in advance.
Suites and larger rooms
Larger rooms offered much more space. There was more room for luggage, and the bathrooms were more comfortable. However, air conditioning should be checked carefully. Some larger rooms had limited cooling or no full air-conditioning setup because of the building layout. In summer, it is best to confirm air conditioning before booking. Top-floor rooms may also have sloped ceilings, which can be uncomfortable for taller guests.
KING's HOTEL Room Cleanliness and Bed Comfort
Cleanliness and room smell
Most rooms at KING's HOTEL were clean. Beds, floors, desks, bathrooms, and hallways were usually well maintained. However, there were exceptions. In one bathroom, hair was left on a glass, and in another room, dust was visible on furniture. One room had a strong sewer smell coming from the shower drain, and the smell spread into the bathroom and room. Staff tried to help, but spraying the room did not fix the drain smell. If this happens, asking for a room change right away is the best option.
Bed and bedding
The bed was one of the strongest points of the hotel. The mattress was firm, supportive, and comfortable after long days walking around Munich. The bedding was clean and comfortable against the skin. The pillows had a good height. Guests who prefer a very soft mattress may find the bed a little firm, but it worked well for sleep.
KING's HOTEL Bathroom Review
Water pressure and hot water
The shower pressure was good, and hot water was steady. That was especially appreciated during winter stays. The sink area had enough space for toiletries, and the towels were clean. On some stays, I would have preferred a few more towels in the bathroom.
Shower space and bathroom issues
The shower space depended on the room. Some shower cabins were narrow, and one room had a step up into the shower. That could be inconvenient for guests with mobility issues. After one shower, water leaked near the bathroom door. Another room had a humming noise from the bathroom at night, likely from ventilation. It is worth checking the bathroom smell, shower drain, and water flow shortly after check-in.
KING's HOTEL Heating, Cooling, and Noise
Heating and air conditioning
Winter stays were comfortable. The room was warm, and the carpet helped. A small heater could also be borrowed if needed. In summer, air conditioning matters a lot. Some rooms had good air conditioning, but not every room was consistent. One room stayed warm at night, and cooling did not respond well. In colder seasons, active cooling may not be available. Some windows cannot be freely opened, so guests who need fresh air should check room details at arrival.
Tram and street noise
The biggest drawback is noise in street-facing rooms. Trams pass directly in front of the hotel, and early morning construction or traffic noise can also be heard. Closing the window reduces the noise, but it does not make the room fully quiet. Tram vibration was noticeable. Courtyard-facing and rear-facing rooms were much quieter. Hallway noise was not a major issue, but occasional door sounds and morning work noise could be heard.
KING's HOTEL Amenities and Facilities
In-room amenities
The room included a coffee machine, coffee capsules, small fridge, safe, hairdryer, coat rack, and free water. Wi-Fi was generally good, although the signal was weaker in one higher-floor room. A kettle was not standard. Slippers were not free in the room and were offered for an extra charge, so bringing your own is a good idea.
Lobby, bar, and extra items
There was an area in the hotel with extra toiletries, ironing equipment, and small heaters. This was convenient because it avoided trips to the front desk for every small item. The lobby and bar were comfortable. For a hotel near Munich Central Station, the inside felt calm. The bar served cocktails, drinks, and simple food such as pinsa. It was useful for a late evening when I did not want to go out again.
KING's HOTEL Breakfast Review
Breakfast price and menu
Breakfast at KING's HOTEL cost €19.80 per person. It was not cheap, but the selection was good. The buffet included croissants, several types of bread, coffee, tea, eggs, ham, cheese, Bavarian sausages, salmon, yogurt, muesli, fruit, and hot dishes. Vegan options were available. The croissants and bread selection were especially good. During a longer stay, some items changed slightly, so breakfast did not feel repetitive.
Breakfast room and service
The breakfast room was comfortable, and food was replenished properly. Seats were easier to find when avoiding the busiest time. Most breakfast staff were friendly and helpful, especially with families. One staff member misheard a room number and responded sharply instead of checking again, which was disappointing. Overall, breakfast service was good. Coffee was not always impressive, and tea was the better choice on some mornings.
KING's HOTEL Staff and Service
Front desk staff
The front desk staff were one of the best parts of KING's HOTEL. They helped with digital check-in, directions, restaurant recommendations, luggage storage, and room questions. English communication was easy. Early check-in and luggage handling were managed well. The staff also helped with lost items and more serious situations, which made the service feel reliable.
Housekeeping and bar staff
Housekeeping was usually efficient and kept rooms clean. The few issues with hair, dust, and drain smell were frustrating because the general standard was otherwise good. The bar staff were friendly and relaxed, making the evening atmosphere better. Breakfast service was mostly good but slightly different depending on the staff member.
KING's HOTEL Pros and Cons
Pros
The biggest advantages of KING's HOTEL are its location near Munich Central Station, comfortable beds, good breakfast, quick check-in, secure luggage lockers, friendly staff, and easy transport access. The elevator requires a room card, which adds a sense of safety. The €10 voucher for skipping housekeeping is also practical, especially if you plan to use the hotel bar or breakfast.
Cons
The main disadvantages are street noise, inconsistent air conditioning, no standard kettle, paid slippers, and occasional bathroom issues. The area around Munich Central Station is convenient during the day but can feel less pleasant late at night. Solo travelers should stick to main streets when returning after dark.
KING's HOTEL Overall Satisfaction
Would I stay again?
I would stay at KING's HOTEL again, but I would request a quiet courtyard-facing room. In summer, I would also confirm working air conditioning before booking. For travelers who want a Munich hotel near Central Station, Marienplatz, the Old Town, museums, and public transport, this hotel offers a good mix of comfort, breakfast quality, location, and service.
KING's HOTEL Location and Transport
Munich Central Station, Marienplatz, and the Old Town
KING's HOTEL is easiest to reach from the north side of Munich Central Station. From there, it is only a short walk to the hotel. The tram stop is right outside, and the S-Bahn and U-Bahn from the station make it easy to reach the airport and other parts of Munich. Marienplatz, the Old Town, Frauenkirche, Residenz, Alte Pinakothek, and Königsplatz are all easy to reach. Hotel parking is limited, and a nearby paid parking garage may be needed. For most Munich trips, using the train, tram, and subway is the better option.
