H+ Hotel Munich stay overview

H+ Hotel is a practical Munich hotel near the main train station, Karlsplatz, the old town and the Deutsches Theater. For a short city break, train connection, early departure or a late arrival, the location is the main reason to book it. Munich Central Station is close, public transport is easy, and many central sights are walkable. The downside is the immediate area around Schillerstraße. At night it is loud, full of nightlife venues, betting shops, adult clubs, shouting, sirens and groups hanging around. The rooms are mixed: some are clean, modern and comfortable, while others are small, noisy or not cleaned well enough. Breakfast cost €18 per person and had a good range of food. I paid about €120 per night on normal travel dates and about €250 per night during a busy period. I recommend H+ Hotel for a short Munich stay when station access matters most, but not for travelers who want a quiet neighborhood.

H+ Hotel check-in, check-out and payment

Check-in experience

Check-in at H+ Hotel started from 3:00 p.m. The actual process was simple: reservation check, ID check and room key. On a late-night arrival after train delays, the reception handled everything quickly, which helped a lot after a tiring journey. On another stay, arriving around 2:00 p.m. did not help because the hotel kept to the official check-in time. One check-in took almost an hour due to a staff shift change at the front desk. That delay was frustrating, especially on a short Munich trip.

Payment and check-out

I used online prepayment for the room. I did not pay in cash at the hotel. Most check-outs were quick, with just the key card return and a check for any extra charges. One check-out was not smooth because the prepaid booking was not recognized correctly, and I had to contact the booking platform myself to prove the payment. That is the kind of issue that can ruin the last hour before a train or flight. When using the parking discount, the parking ticket must be shown at reception before leaving.

H+ Hotel room types

Single rooms and small double rooms

The smaller rooms at H+ Hotel work best for one person or a very short stay. A bed, small desk, TV, outlets and basic luggage space are available. For solo travel, it is enough. For two people with large suitcases, it becomes cramped quickly. One small double room with a sloped ceiling had so little floor space that one person had to sit on the bed so the other could reach the bathroom. It is acceptable for a quick overnight stay, but not comfortable for a longer couple trip.

Double and comfort rooms

The double rooms were better for sleeping than for space. The mattresses were generally comfortable, and the bedding felt light and clean on most stays. The pillows were thin and did not give enough neck support. Anyone who needs a higher pillow should ask for an extra one at check-in. Some comfort rooms felt updated and practical, with useful outlet placement and decent lighting. Other rooms had no proper wardrobe and very little storage. For two or three days, that is fine. For a longer stay, it becomes annoying.

Family rooms and larger rooms

The larger rooms were much more comfortable. A family room with an extra bed had enough space for luggage and a child, and a four-bed room also worked well. Higher-floor rooms facing away from the street were quieter and better for sleep. Not every family setup was perfect, though. One sofa bed was very hard, and a promised baby cot was not handled reliably. Families should confirm baby beds, extra beds and elevator access before arrival.

Upper floors and balcony rooms

A top-floor room with a balcony was one of the better stays. The room was clean, less cramped and more pleasant to spend time in. The only small issue was weak lighting in the evening. Upper floors reduce street noise, but that benefit disappears when the elevator is broken. Carrying luggage to the upper floors is exhausting, and it is even worse with children or mobility problems.

H+ Hotel room condition and sleep quality

Bed, bedding and pillows

The beds were usually comfortable. The single bed was not large, but it was fine for one person. Double beds had decent mattresses, and the duvets were light without feeling cheap. The pillows were the weak point. They were too thin and did not support the head well. Better pillows would make a noticeable difference here, especially because many guests arrive tired after travel days.

Cleanliness and smell

Room cleanliness was inconsistent. Some rooms were clean, tidy and ready to use, with a fresh bathroom and clean towels. Other rooms had dust, unvacuumed floors, missing toilet paper and old carpet smell. One room had not been cleaned at all: the bed was still used by the previous guest, the bathroom was dirty and used towels were left on the floor. That should not happen in any hotel. In some rooms the carpet smelled musty, and when airing the room, food smells from nearby restaurants came inside and stayed there.

Desk, outlets and lighting

The desk was enough for a laptop, phone and a few travel items. Outlets were generally easy to reach near the bed or desk, which made charging devices simple. Lighting depended on the room. Some rooms were bright enough, while others were too dim in the evening. One room had curtains that did not fully cover the window, so the room did not get completely dark. Light sleepers should bring an eye mask.

Heating, air conditioning and air quality

Heating and air conditioning were not reliable in every room. In winter, one room was not heated on arrival, and another stay required a room change because the heating did not work properly. In summer, the air conditioning worked in some rooms, but it was loud in others. One room felt humid and had poor air circulation. After entering the room, it is worth checking the heating, air conditioning and window right away.

H+ Hotel bathroom and toilet

Shower, water pressure and hot water

In the better rooms, the bathroom was modern and clean. The shower pressure was strong, hot water came quickly, and the sink area was tidy. Basic toiletries were provided, mainly soap and shower gel. Toothbrushes, slippers and body lotion should be packed separately. Towels were fine on some stays, but old or poorly replaced on others.

Small bathrooms and maintenance issues

Many bathrooms were small. In some rooms, turning around was difficult, and the shower area felt tight. There were also maintenance issues: a broken shower holder, ventilation problems, broken blinds, a toilet that only worked half the time, mold in the bathroom and a ceiling leak. One morning there was no water in the bathroom after a previous issue. These are not small details, so the bathroom should be checked immediately after entering the room.

H+ Hotel noise level

Windows and street noise

Street noise is the biggest weakness of H+ Hotel. The windows do not block sound well enough. Even with the window closed, voices, music, sirens and shouting from the street came into the room. In a street-facing room, noise started again around 4:30 a.m. Light sleepers should not take a street-facing room here. A courtyard-facing room or a higher floor is much better.

Hallway noise and elevator waits

Noise also came from inside the hotel. Doors closed loudly, and hallway sounds were easy to hear. The elevator was another recurring issue. There is only one elevator, so morning waits can be long, especially when housekeeping is using it. Some floor buttons did not work at times, and the elevator was completely out of service on other stays. With luggage, children or health issues, that becomes a serious problem.

H+ Hotel amenities and room facilities

Free water and basic items

The room sometimes included two free bottles of mineral water and a small candy, which was a nice touch. TV, Wi-Fi, heating and basic bathroom products were available. The missing mini fridge was a clear downside. It is inconvenient in summer and also annoying if you want to keep drinks cold. A kettle was not always in the room, but it could be requested. Anyone who wants tea or coffee in the room should ask at check-in.

Wi-Fi, lobby and bar

Wi-Fi quality changed by stay. Sometimes it worked well, and sometimes it was slow, disconnected or required repeated logins. The open connection was not ideal either. A microwave was available in the lobby, and the hotel had a bar for a simple late drink. Overall, the hotel is practical, but it does not feel like a full four-star experience with many extras.

H+ Hotel breakfast

€18 breakfast buffet

Breakfast cost €18 per person. The buffet had bread rolls, bread, croissants, cheese, ham, fruit, vegetables, yogurt, cereal, juice and coffee. Hot food included scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, sausages, Nuremberg sausages, white sausage and meatballs. On some mornings, omelets or fried eggs were offered fresh. For guests who like a full breakfast before sightseeing, adding breakfast makes sense.

Breakfast room and food refills

The breakfast room is in the basement. It is not the nicest space, and it gets crowded during busy hours. On good mornings, food was refilled well and the staff were attentive. On later mornings, some items were missing or refilled slowly. White sausage without pretzels was disappointing, and during rush hour the buffet area became messy. Even with those issues, breakfast was one of the stronger parts of the hotel because of the variety and the breakfast staff.

H+ Hotel staff and service

Front desk

The front desk experience was mixed. Some staff members were friendly, fast and helpful. Late arrivals, local questions and small requests were handled well. One staff member even helped find a dry place for bicycles on a rainy day. Other situations were disappointing: elevator problems were not handled with enough help, room defects were not solved quickly, and prepaid booking confusion at check-out caused stress. Clear requests are important at this hotel.

Breakfast staff and housekeeping

The breakfast staff were one of the best parts of the stay. They offered hot egg dishes, treated children kindly and were attentive at the tables. For a very early departure, a packed breakfast with water, apples, pears, mandarins, cereal bars, donuts and rolls was prepared. Housekeeping was less reliable. Even with a cleaning request sign, the room was not always cleaned properly. Sometimes only towels were left, while the bed and floor were ignored. For longer stays, cleaning requests should also be made at reception.

H+ Hotel parking and costs

No private parking at the hotel

H+ Hotel does not have a convenient private parking lot directly at the entrance. Guests with a car use a nearby public or partner parking garage. The walk takes about five minutes. The normal price was €32 for 24 hours. With the hotel discount, I paid €14 for 24 hours. The discounted rate only worked after presenting the ticket at reception.

Parking garage experience

The parking garage was useful but not pleasant. The smell was bad, and the atmosphere around it was not comfortable. After a long drive, walking from the garage to the hotel with luggage was annoying. Because the main station, U-Bahn and S-Bahn are so close, I recommend H+ Hotel more for train travelers than drivers.

H+ Hotel pros, cons and whether I would return

Pros

The main advantages are location, breakfast and price on normal dates. At about €120 per night, the hotel can be good value for a central Munich stay. The best rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and larger rooms work for families. Breakfast is broad enough to justify the €18 price for many travelers, and the breakfast staff make the morning better.

Cons

The downsides matter. The area outside the hotel is loud and uncomfortable at night, the windows do not block enough noise, and room cleanliness is not consistent. Elevator issues, small rooms, no mini fridge and uneven front desk service also stand out. I would stay again for a short Munich trip when I need to be close to the train station. I do not recommend it for families with small children, solo travelers returning late at night or anyone looking for a calm weekend hotel.

H+ Hotel location in Munich

From Munich Central Station

H+ Hotel is about a 5 to 10-minute walk from Munich Central Station. Exit toward the southern side of the station and walk toward Schillerstraße. With a large suitcase, it is still walkable, but the crossings and busy streets make it less pleasant. The Deutsches Theater is close, and Lidl, Rossmann and DM are nearby for water, snacks and toiletries.

Karlsplatz, Old Town and Theresienwiese

Karlsplatz is about 10 minutes away on foot, while Marienplatz and the old town take about 15 to 20 minutes. When walking is not appealing, U-Bahn and S-Bahn connections from the main station or Karlsplatz are easy. Theresienwiese is also walkable, which is useful during Oktoberfest. The location is excellent for transport and sightseeing, but weak for a peaceful neighborhood atmosphere. Choose it for convenience, not for quiet streets.
