Bob W Quick Stay Review

Overall Impression in Munich Schwabing

Bob W is a strong option in Munich Schwabing-West if you want an apartment-style hotel with a small kitchen rather than a classic full-service hotel. Most things are handled on your phone: check-in, building entry, room access, elevator use, and check-out. When the system works, it is easy. When the digital key fails, it becomes frustrating fast. The rooms were usually clean, modern, and practical, especially for stays longer than one night. The weak points are also clear: poor soundproofing in some rooms, no air conditioning, occasional bathroom smell, missed cleaning, limited parking, and no real breakfast room on site. Prices changed a lot by date. I paid about 300 euros per night for a standard apartment on a busy date. At that price, I expect not only a nice room but also faster support when something goes wrong. I would stay again, but I recommend asking for a quiet room facing the back.

Bob W Check-in, Check-out, and Payment

Digital Check-in Experience

Check-in at Bob W starts online. Passport details, reservation confirmation, and digital key access are handled through a phone link. When I stayed alone, the process was quick. With several guests, it took longer because everyone’s details had to be entered. On smooth stays, I entered the building and room without waiting. On other stays, the digital key did not work properly, the key card at the terminal took time to load, or I had to contact support before getting in. Once, the room was not ready at the official check-in time. Another time, an access issue kept me from entering the room for more than 30 minutes. I also asked for a one-hour early check-in, and it was offered only with an extra fee.

Check-out and Card Payment

Check-out was usually simple and digital. I did not need to stop at a front desk in the morning. Extra charges were limited to booked options such as parking or breakfast. I paid by card through the online booking, and I did not use cash. On cheaper dates, the value was good. On high-demand dates, a standard apartment cost about 300 euros per night. For two nights, the room alone came to about 600 euros. At that rate, weak soundproofing, cleaning misses, and slow support matter much more.

Bob W Room Types and Stay Experience

Studio S for Solo Stays

Studio S works best for one person. It is not large, but it includes the basics: bed, small kitchen, table, fridge, kettle, dishes, and dishwasher. The room felt bright, modern, and useful. I could work at the table, and the power outlets were easy enough to reach. For two people, it gets tight. In some rooms, the bed sits close to a wall or furniture, so the second person has to climb in and out awkwardly. I recommend Studio S for solo stays. For couples, book a larger apartment.

Studio Comfy Around 22 Square Meters

Studio Comfy is around 22 square meters, but the kitchenette takes up a noticeable part of the space. Once luggage is open, the room feels smaller. The 140x200 cm French double bed is tight for two adults. For families or anyone using extra child beds, this room is too small. The kitchen is useful, but it reduces the space around the bed. It works for a short stay for one or two people, but I recommend a larger room for comfort.

Larger Apartment

The larger apartment was much better for longer stays. The kitchen was well equipped, the fridge stayed cold, the dishwasher was quiet, and there was enough cutlery for two. The table and chairs made it easy to eat or work in the room. The couch was not very comfortable, but the bed and kitchen made the stay pleasant overall. This room type fits longer stays best. The laundry facilities need planning, though. There are not enough washing machines for the number of guests, and one machine was out of order during one stay. For a longer visit, do not leave laundry until the last minute.

Bob W Bed, Bedding, and Room Condition

Bed and Pillows

The bed was generally comfortable. The mattress was slightly firm and did not sag. The bedding was clean, soft enough, and well prepared. The oversized towels were a nice touch. Pillow quality depended on the room. In better rooms, both firm and soft pillows were provided. In others, the pillow was thin and offered little support. Getting an extra pillow was not always quick, and I had to ask more than once. The topper on the bed was not my favorite, but it could be removed.

Cleanliness and Smell

Most stays were clean. The room, bed, kitchen, and bathroom usually looked ready when I entered. But not every stay was perfect. One bathroom had a strong drain smell that stayed even after I reported it. Another shower had mildew in the grout. A scheduled mid-stay cleaning did not happen on the booked day and was not handled well afterward. I recommend checking the bathroom, bedding, and kitchenware as soon as you enter the room.

Windows, Lighting, Heating, and Cooling

The windows open, which is useful for fresh air. In street-facing rooms, opening the window brings in noise from cars, people, and the road. Closing it helps but does not make the room fully quiet. A rotating fan was provided and helped on warm days. There was no air conditioning. In hot weather, the room became too warm, especially when I had to keep the windows closed because of street noise. In colder weather, the heated bathroom floor was a nice feature.

Bob W Bathroom and Toilet

Shower Pressure and Hot Water

The bathroom can be very good. In the better rooms, water pressure was strong, hot water was reliable, and the rain shower was satisfying. The large towels were comfortable, and the shower gel was nice. The sink area was clean, though storage space varied by room. For an apartment-style hotel, the bathroom needs more hooks and towel bars. One towel rack inside the shower is not enough for two people or toiletry bags.

Bathroom Problems

Some bathrooms were disappointing. In one room, the drain smell was strong enough that I had to open the window or balcony door. It was reported but not fixed right away. In another room, the extractor fan pulled cooking smells from a neighboring room. I also had a room with a small shower, mildew in the grout, and an outdated shower head. A bathtub looks good at first, but the shower condition matters more. Toilet flushing sounds from nearby rooms were also easy to hear in poorly insulated rooms.

Bob W Soundproofing and Noise

Street Noise

Soundproofing is the biggest issue at Bob W. Rooms facing the back were quiet, but street-facing rooms were much louder. Around 5:30 to 6:00 in the morning, I heard car doors, residents leaving, and street noise. The neighborhood itself is not a loud party area, but the street side carries sound strongly. Earplugs in the room helped, but they also made the noise issue clear.

Hallway and Neighboring Rooms

Noise from inside the building was also noticeable. Footsteps from above, hallway doors, water from the next room, toilet flushing, and voices could be heard depending on the room. Light sleepers should not book a street-facing room. I recommend requesting a room toward the back or courtyard side.

Bob W Amenities and Room Facilities

Kitchen and In-room Items

The small kitchen is one of the best reasons to book Bob W. The fridge, kettle, dishes, cutlery, basic cookware, and dishwasher make the room more useful than a standard hotel room. It is easy to shop nearby and have a simple breakfast or dinner in the room. Some rooms had coffee and tea, but I missed having a coffee machine. Milk and sugar were not provided, so I bought them myself. The reusable tote bag, international adapter, cable, full-length mirror, and fan were thoughtful extras.

Shared Areas and Laundry

The shared areas were clean and modern. The coworking space worked for a short laptop session, though it felt more like a meeting room than a large workspace. The laundry room is useful for longer stays, but it is not enough when many guests need it at the same time. Another drawback was the lack of recycling bins in the room. For a hotel that highlights sustainability, that should be standard.

Bob W Breakfast and Food

No Breakfast Room On Site

Bob W does not have a classic breakfast room in the building. Even when breakfast was included in the booking, I had to use a nearby partner café or bar. Depending on the option, it was about 5 to 15 minutes away on foot. Breakfast was available only from 8:00 a.m., which did not work well for early plans. I could not check a separate breakfast price inside the hotel because there was no breakfast served in the building. I recommend booking without breakfast and using a nearby bakery or café instead.

Eating Nearby or in the Room

There are many cafés, bakeries, supermarkets, bars, and restaurants around Bob W. For that reason, it was often easier to get coffee and pastries nearby or use the kitchen in the room. The fridge worked well, the dishwasher was quiet, and the dishes were enough for a simple meal. If you expect a hotel buffet with bread, coffee, eggs, cheese, ham, fruit, and yogurt, this is not the right hotel. Bob W works better for guests who like flexible meals and a room with a kitchen.

Bob W Parking

Garage and Parking Cost

Parking at Bob W is possible, but it is not the easiest part of the stay. Garage spaces are limited and cost 20 euros per night. The garage boxes are small. A midsize wagon fit, but I recommend checking in advance if you drive a wider car. The garage key instructions were not clear the first time, and I had to find a temporary street parking spot before getting the garage access.

Public Transport Works Better

Once, a confirmed and paid garage reservation was cancelled shortly before arrival because of overbooking. That is a serious problem when traveling by car. Street parking is possible, but finding a space takes time and requires a parking ticket. For Munich, this hotel is easier without a car. U-Bahn, tram, and bus stops are nearby, so I recommend using public transport for city trips.

Bob W Staff and Service

Digital Support and On-site Team

Service at Bob W depends heavily on digital support. I often received quick replies through WhatsApp or chat. The best service moment was help with a forgotten item: the cleaning team found it and the return was arranged quickly. Daytime on-site staff were friendly when available and helped with questions, including access to a partner gym.

Weak Points in Service

When real problems came up, digital support was not always enough. Access issues, bathroom smell, missed cleaning, and parking problems were not solved quickly every time. In a classic hotel, I would go straight to the front desk. Here, I had to write or call. That can be frustrating. Once, items in my room had been moved without prior notice. Later I was told housekeeping had entered to add dishes. Any room entry should be announced in advance. There is no breakfast staff to evaluate inside the hotel because breakfast is not served on site.

Bob W Pros and Cons

What Works Well

The best parts of Bob W are the Munich Schwabing location, the small kitchen, modern rooms, comfortable beds, good towels, and easy digital access when the system works. It suits business trips, longer stays, and guests who want to eat or work in the room. The neighborhood feels safe, green, and convenient, with restaurants, cafés, and supermarkets close by.

What Needs Improvement

The downsides are weak soundproofing, no air conditioning, inconsistent cleaning on some stays, bathroom odor, limited parking, and no breakfast in the building. Guests who want full on-site service may not enjoy it. Anyone staying here should keep a charged phone, bring a power bank, and save the check-in emails. For quiet nights, I recommend requesting a back-facing room.

Bob W Location and Nearby Transport

Bonner Platz, Hohenzollernplatz, and Schwabing

Bob W is in Munich Schwabing-West, inside a residential area rather than a noisy nightlife street. From Bonner Platz U-Bahn station, it is easy to walk to the hotel. Hohenzollernplatz and Kurfürstenplatz are also close enough on foot. Nearby you will find cafés, bakeries, supermarkets, drugstores, bars, and restaurants. The U-Bahn makes it easy to reach the Sendlinger Tor area, and tram and bus stops are also nearby. The English Garden and Olympic Park are good options for walks or runs. I recommend Bob W for travelers who want a quieter Munich base with easy public transport into the city center.
