Review Summary

My conclusion after several visits

STEAK DÖNER Türkish Cuisine is a Turkish restaurant near Giesing Station in Munich, and it is mainly worth visiting for steak döner, dürüm, and grilled dishes. Across several visits, I tried the steak döner, dürüm, spinach pizza, köfte, Adana, and lentil soup. The strongest points were the seasoning of the meat, the sauces, and the bread. Still, there were clear downsides. The steak döner recently cost €10.50, the meat portion was not always generous, the bread was hard on one visit, and the restroom had no soap on another visit. There was also a serious issue with a hard foreign object in a takeout pizza. I would return for the taste, but anyone sensitive to price and portion size should keep expectations realistic. On-site conditions may differ depending on the day of visit.

Prices and Waiting Time

Steak döner price

I paid €9.50 for the steak döner on an earlier visit, and €10.50 on a more recent visit. Ayran cost €2.00, so the steak döner and ayran together came to €12.50. The taste was good, but the price is high for a döner.

Extra meat price

Extra meat cost €2.50. With extra meat, the steak döner came to €13.00. I recommend adding extra meat if you care about the meat portion. Without it, the amount of meat felt too small on one visit.

Plate menu price

I paid €12.00 for a döner plate with rice and ayran on one visit. The plate felt more complete than a single döner because it came with rice, meat, salad, and sauce. When I ordered köfte and soup together, the total meal came within the €20 to €30 range.

Waiting time

Most visits had no real wait. During busier hours, I waited about 10 minutes, and once I stood for almost 15 minutes because the order ahead of me took a long time. Takeout was usually quick, while delivery took longer on one occasion.

Detailed Food Review

Steak döner

The steak döner is the main dish to try here. On good days, the meat was juicy, well seasoned, and matched nicely with the sauce and vegetables. The bread held the sauce well, and the light lemon touch made the meat taste brighter. When it was good, it was clearly the dish I wanted to order again.

Weak points of the steak döner

The steak döner was not perfect every time. On one visit, the meat was dry and chewy. On another visit, the bread was hard rather than crispy. I also did not like the cucumber in the döner because it made the filling watery and reduced the meat flavor. At €10.50, the meat portion and consistency need to be stronger.

Dürüm

The dürüm was one of the better items. The flatbread was chewy, the sauce was spread evenly, and the meat flavor came through clearly. The veal dürüm with spicy sauce worked especially well. It was also easier to eat as takeout than the classic döner. I usually paid around €10 for it.

Spinach pizza

The spinach pizza was better than expected. The dough was thin and crisp, the spinach was aromatic, and the cheese did not feel too heavy. Without a drink, I paid under €10 for it. It is a good choice on a day when I do not want meat.

Pizza downside

Pizza also had one serious downside. On one takeout visit, there was a hard foreign object in the pizza. That was a major disappointment and should not happen in a kitchen. If ordering pizza to go, I recommend checking it immediately.

Köfte and köfte bread

The köfte was juicy and well seasoned. The köfte plate was generous, and the köfte bread worked well as a quick meal. For eating with others, köfte is a reliable option because the portion was more satisfying.

Lentil soup

The lentil soup was warm, smooth, and mild. It worked well as a starter before the heavier meat dishes. With bread, it made the meal more balanced and less heavy.

Adana and İskender

Adana had a strong spice profile and a deep meat flavor. As a dürüm, it matched very well with spicy sauce. İskender was filling and rich as a plate dish. Depending on the order, I paid within the €10 to €20 range for Adana or İskender.

Falafel and vegetarian options

The falafel dürüm was not as intense as the meat dishes, but it was fresh and crisp. Vegetarian options were available and easy enough to identify. Still, this restaurant is strongest with steak döner and grilled meat dishes.

What I Recommend If Ordering Just One Dish

Steak döner as the first choice

If ordering only one dish, I recommend the steak döner. It best represents the restaurant: seasoned meat, sauce, bread, and vegetables in one direct bite. If you want a more satisfying meat portion, I recommend ordering it with extra meat.

Dürüm as an alternative

As an alternative, I recommend the dürüm. It is easier to eat, the sauce is distributed more evenly, and the filling stays together better. If €10.50 for a steak döner feels too high, the dürüm is a good option.

Payment and Dining Experience

Payment method

It is better to bring cash. Card payment was not always available, and I once had to use a nearby ATM. Before ordering, it is worth asking whether card payment is accepted that day.

Seating and atmosphere

The indoor seating area was usually clean and simple. Outdoor seating was also available on some visits. On quiet visits, it was easy to eat and talk. During busy periods, the restaurant became louder, and the music was unpleasant on one visit.

Parking and Access

Parking

Parking was difficult. The area mainly had paid street parking, and empty spaces were not always available. If arriving by car, extra time is necessary.

Public transport

Public transport is the easier option. From Giesing Station, the restaurant is reachable on foot. It is also easy to approach from the MVG Museum area.

Staff and Restroom

Staff friendliness

The staff were mostly friendly. Orders were prepared quickly on many visits, and I was even offered complimentary tea once. During busy moments, the service felt more rushed, and one order in front of me took too long.

Restroom

The restroom is downstairs and requires using the stairs. On one visit, it was not clean enough and there was no soap. The restaurant itself was often clean, but restroom maintenance needs to be more reliable.

Pros and Cons

Pros

The biggest strength is the meat. When the steak döner is prepared well, it tastes bold, juicy, and different from an ordinary döner. The dürüm, köfte, Adana, and lentil soup were also satisfying. The staff were mostly friendly, and the menu has enough variety for repeated visits.

Cons

The main weaknesses are price, portion size, and inconsistency. At €10.50, a steak döner should offer more meat and more reliable quality. Dry meat, hard bread, the pizza issue, limited card payment, and difficult parking are clear negatives.

Satisfaction and Revisit Intention

Overall satisfaction

My overall satisfaction is 4 out of 5. The taste can be excellent, but not every visit was equally good. The steak döner depends heavily on how juicy the meat is on that day.

Revisit intention

I would visit again. Next time, I would order either steak döner with extra meat or a dürüm. For a first visit, I recommend the steak döner, but I also recommend bringing cash and not relying on easy parking.
