Review Summary

A Croatian Restaurant Worth Repeating in Moosach

Pils Corner is a small Croatian restaurant in Munich-Moosach with generous portions, hearty grilled dishes, seafood, and very personal service. Across several visits, I tried the Grillteller, Cevapcici, Pljeskavica Macedonia, mussels, fish, grilled calamari, schnitzel, and liver. A normal meal usually cost me €20–30 per person, while a meat-focused meal with beer came to €30–40. The Hausplatte for two was charged at €46, and one meal for four people with a platter, steak, and mussels came to €80 including tip. The restaurant is small, parking is difficult, and reservations are important in the evening. Still, the food and hospitality make Pils Corner a restaurant I would visit again.

Visit Experience and Waiting Time

Small Dining Room and Bar Seating

Pils Corner looks modest from the outside, almost like an old neighborhood pub, but inside it works as a proper Croatian restaurant. The dining room is small, the number of tables is limited, and the bar is also used for dining. On several visits, the restaurant was full, especially in the evening.

Waiting Time

On early weekday visits, I was seated without waiting. During busy dinner hours, I waited around 10 minutes. With a larger group, the food took longer, but most visits had fast service after ordering. A reservation is the safest choice.

Food and Prices

Grillteller Price and Taste

The Grillteller was one of the strongest dishes I had at Pils Corner. With beer, my bill came to the low €30s. The plate included several grilled meats, fries, seasoned rice, onions, and a spicy red sauce. The meat had good char, clear seasoning, and usually stayed juicy. On one visit, one skewer did not taste as fresh as expected, and the fries were soft. Even with that drawback, the Grillteller remains one of the best orders here.

Hausplatte for Two

The Hausplatte for two was charged at €46. The portion was huge, and it was difficult for two people to finish everything. For a first visit, this is the best option if you want to try several grilled items at once. The different meats, sides, and sauces make the meal filling and varied.

Cevapcici and Pljeskavica Macedonia

Cevapcici and Pljeskavica Macedonia usually came to €20–30 per person with a drink. The Cevapcici were juicy, salty, and well matched with beer. Pljeskavica Macedonia had a richer taste because the warm cheese on top made the meat even more satisfying. If I had to recommend only one dish, I recommend Pljeskavica Macedonia.

Mussels in White Wine Cream Sauce and Tomato Sauce

I ordered the mussels as a 1000g portion. With a drink, the meal came to €20–30 per person. The white wine cream sauce was rich and creamy, while the tomato sauce was brighter and still strongly seasoned with garlic. The baguette was essential because the sauce was just as memorable as the mussels. In winter, I recommend ordering the mussels.

Fish and Grilled Calamari

Fish and grilled calamari also came to about €20–30 per person on my visits. The fish was mild, and the calamari was tender rather than rubbery. With potatoes, these dishes felt lighter than the meat platters. Even though Pils Corner is strong with grilled meat, the seafood is also worth ordering.

Liver and Schnitzel

The liver with potatoes and onions had a deep flavor without being unpleasantly strong. With a drink, this meal came to €20–30. The schnitzel was thin, properly fried, and satisfying as a hearty dinner. The Corner Art version with ham and cheese was especially filling and suited the rustic character of the restaurant.

Dessert and House Drink

Palatschinken with vanilla ice cream was a sweet ending after the heavy main dishes. On some visits, a strong fruit liquor was served after the meal. That final drink fit the personal character of the restaurant and made the meal more memorable.

Payment and Cost Satisfaction

How I Paid

Payment was handled at the table after the meal. A simple main dish cost €20–30 per person, while a meat-heavy meal with beer came to €30–40. Larger seafood or mixed orders went above €40 per person. For four people, the platter, steak, and mussels came to €80 including tip.

Value for Money

Pils Corner is not the cheapest restaurant in Munich, but the portions are large and the overall quality is strong. The Hausplatte for two at €46 offers a lot of food for the price. For hungry guests, the value is convincing.

Staff Friendliness and Service

Personal Welcome

The service is one of the main reasons I would return. The host greeted guests personally, checked on the table during the meal, and gave the visit a warm local feeling. Ordering was also easy because an English menu was available.

Group Service

With a larger group, the service stayed attentive and the food arrived in an organized way. Since the restaurant is small, I recommend reserving in advance for any group visit.

Parking and Restroom

Parking

Parking near Pils Corner is difficult. Street parking exists, but finding a spot close to the restaurant is not reliable. Public transportation is the better option.

Restroom

There is a restroom inside the restaurant. The space is small, and the whole dining room is tight. Because of steps and limited space, the restaurant is not comfortable for wheelchair users.

Pros and Cons

Pros

The main strengths are generous portions, hearty Croatian food, very warm service, and a cozy local atmosphere. Grillteller, Pljeskavica Macedonia, and mussels stood out the most. Fast food service on normal evenings is another advantage.

Cons

The main drawbacks are the tight interior, difficult parking, and the need for a reservation. Outdoor seating is close to the road, so it can be noisy. On one visit, part of the grilled meat was below the usual standard, and the fries were soft. Anyone sensitive to heavy, fatty meat dishes should order carefully.

Satisfaction and Revisit Intention

Overall Satisfaction

Overall, I am very satisfied with Pils Corner. The food is hearty, the portions are large, and the service is more personal than in many restaurants. Not every visit was perfect, but the positive points clearly outweigh the weak moments.

Would I Return?

I would visit Pils Corner again. Next time, I would order Pljeskavica Macedonia and add mussels in winter. For a first visit, I recommend the Hausplatte for two or Pljeskavica Macedonia. Solo diners should choose the Grillteller, while couples and groups should share several dishes.
