Visiting INDIAN LOVE STORY

First impression after several visits

INDIAN LOVE STORY became one of the places I remembered when I wanted Indian food in central Munich. The location between Marienplatz, Viktualienmarkt, and Tal was convenient, and the small dining room had a warm Indian atmosphere with a clear Bollywood touch. Across several visits, the strongest points were quick service, bold spices, and generally friendly staff. Current on-site conditions may be different now.

Waiting time and seating

Lunch and dinner

At lunch, I was usually seated quickly, and the food came without a long wait. It also worked well for a solo meal. Dinner was busier, especially during peak hours, and I waited around 10 to 20 minutes on one visit. Once the order was placed, the food still arrived quickly.

Reservation

On weekday lunch visits, a reservation was not necessary. For dinner or weekends, booking ahead was the better choice because the restaurant is small. Groups should reserve in advance.

Cost and payment

Price range

Lunch usually cost around €10–20 per person. Dinner was more often around €20–30 per person, depending on starters, mains, naan, and drinks. Considering the central Munich location, the price level was fair.

Payment method

Card payment was possible, although cash seemed more convenient. Paying by card was not a problem, but having some cash made the final payment smoother.

Parking

Arriving by car

Driving there was not the easiest option. Parking directly nearby was difficult because the restaurant is in the city center. Paid parking garages or paid street parking nearby were more realistic. Walking, subway, or tram was the better way to visit.

Food review by item

Papri Chaat and Samosa Chaat

The Papri Chaat was crisp, bright, and flavorful. The chutneys added sweetness, tang, and mint in a balanced way. The Samosa Chaat was more filling, with a clear potato and spice flavor. Both starters were good for sharing.

Gobi Manchurian and Gunpowder Potatoes

The Gobi Manchurian was crunchy, spicy, and satisfying. The sauce was not too heavy, and the dish had plenty of character even without meat. The Gunpowder Potatoes were a fun potato dish with Indian seasoning and worked well as a starter.

Butter Chicken

The Butter Chicken was mild, creamy, and slightly sweet. The chicken was tender, and the sauce paired especially well with Garlic Naan. It was not the best choice for strong heat, but it worked very well as a comforting classic.

Chicken Tikka and Love Story Tikka

The Chicken Tikka had a good grilled aroma and stayed juicy. The Love Story Tikka arrived hot and flavorful. The seasoning was clear without becoming too heavy.

Lamb Biryani

The Lamb Biryani was one of the best dishes I had there. The naan-covered bowl was opened at the table, and the aroma of basmati rice, spices, and lamb came out immediately. The lamb was tender, the rice was fragrant, and the dish was not too oily.

Chicken Biryani and Veg Biryani

The Chicken Biryani was well seasoned and aromatic. The Veg Biryani was also satisfying and worked well as a vegetarian option. With naan or lassi, it became a complete meal.

Lamb Curry and Lamb Vindaloo

The Lamb Curry had a deep sauce and tender meat. The Lamb Vindaloo was much spicier. The staff explained the heat level when ordering, which made it easier to choose.

Palak Paneer and Kadhai Paneer

The Palak Paneer was creamy, mild, and comforting. The Kadhai Paneer had stronger seasoning and paired very well with naan. The vegetarian choices were strong overall.

Dal Makhani and Chana Masala

The Dal Makhani was rich, smooth, and warming. The Chana Masala had a good chickpea texture and felt lighter thanks to the fresh toppings. Both worked well with rice or bread.

Naan and Garlic Naan

The naan was soft and served warm. The Garlic Naan had a clear garlic aroma and matched especially well with Butter Chicken, Dal Makhani, and Lamb Curry.

Mango Lassi and Masala Chai

The Mango Lassi was sweet, creamy, and very good with spicy food. The Masala Chai was a warm, aromatic finish after the meal.

Staff friendliness

Service and ordering

The staff were mostly friendly, quick, and helpful. When I ordered spicy dishes, they checked the heat level. They also handled small requests well. When one dish felt very spicy, yogurt was brought to the table, which was thoughtful and useful.

Restroom

Availability

A restroom was available inside the restaurant. The place was small, so the space was not large, but it was enough for a normal meal.

Pros and cons

Pros

The main strengths were the central location, short waiting times, bold spices, and friendly staff. Biryani, Butter Chicken, Gobi Manchurian, Garlic Naan, and Mango Lassi were especially memorable. The vegetarian options were also good.

Cons

The restaurant was small and filled up quickly during busy hours. Parking was difficult. Some portions could feel a little modest depending on appetite. Cash payment also felt easier than card payment.

Satisfaction and revisit intention

Overall satisfaction

Overall, I was very satisfied. The food was aromatic, the service was quick, and the location worked well for a meal in central Munich. It was a good choice for Indian food after walking around the old town.

Revisit intention

I would visit again. Next time, I would order the Lamb Biryani, Palak Paneer, Garlic Naan, and Mango Lassi again. For Indian food near Marienplatz, INDIAN LOVE STORY remains a solid choice.

Location guide

From Marienplatz and Viktualienmarkt

From Marienplatz, walk east toward the Tal area. After passing the Glockenspiel and New Town Hall area, the restaurant is easy to reach on foot. From Viktualienmarkt, walk northeast toward Tal, and the restaurant is also close.

Near Hofbräuhaus München

The restaurant is also easy to reach from Hofbräuhaus München. From there, walk south toward Hochbrückenstraße and continue toward Tal. This makes it convenient to combine the meal with a walk through Munich’s old town.
