Review Summary
Cotidiano Promenadeplatz is a strong breakfast and brunch restaurant in central Munich. After several visits, the best parts were the fresh ingredients, well-presented plates, friendly service on good days, and the wide menu. Avocado Toast Deluxe, Amalfi scrambled eggs, banana bread, brunch plates, smoothies, lemonade, matcha, and coffee were the highlights. Still, the restaurant had clear weak points. During busy hours, the tables felt tight, the room became noisy, and service was inconsistent. On some visits, ordering took too long, and once the kitchen was too overloaded to accept a food order after a long wait. Most visits cost around €20–30 per person. A lighter breakfast came to around €10–20, while a fuller brunch with drinks or dessert came to around €30–40. Overall, I recommend it, but a reservation is the better choice for weekends.
Food Review by Menu
Avocado Toast Deluxe
Avocado Toast Deluxe is the one dish I recommend if you order only one thing. The bread was crisp, the avocado was creamy, and the eggs made the plate satisfying without feeling heavy. It worked well for both breakfast and brunch. With a drink, I usually paid around €20–30 per person.
Amalfi Scrambled Eggs
The Amalfi scrambled eggs were one of the best breakfast dishes here. The grilled bread worked well with the soft eggs, and the lemon spread added a bright flavor. Adding half an avocado made the plate more filling. With a drink, this meal came to around €20–30.
Banana Bread
The banana bread was excellent. It was moist inside, lightly baked outside, and not overly sweet. It matched coffee very well and worked as a small dessert after brunch. Coffee and banana bread came to around €10–20.
Korean Chicken Bowl
The Korean Chicken Bowl had good chicken and fresh ingredients. The portion was solid, but the overall seasoning was too salty on one visit. The chicken, vegetables, and sauce worked individually, but the saltiness dominated the bowl. I recommend it only to people who like stronger seasoning. With a drink, it came to around €20–30.
Burgers
The burgers were good for dinner. The bread, filling, and portion were satisfying. Cotidiano is stronger as a breakfast and brunch place, but the burgers are still a decent choice for an evening meal. I paid around €20–30 per person.
Pancakes, Waffles, and Croissants
The Pancake Tower was sweet and filling, closer to a dessert than a light breakfast. The waffles were good but not large. The croissant sandwich had a buttery taste and a nice filling, but it needs to be eaten quickly before the croissant turns soft.
Drinks and Coffee
The coffee was generally good. Cappuccino, latte, Americano, Dirty Matcha Latte, and Matcha Latte all worked well with breakfast. The matcha was balanced and did not taste only like milk. Basil lemonade was fresh, and the homemade lemonades were not too sweet. The mango, passionfruit, and banana smoothie tasted fresh and fruity. On one visit, two drinks came to €15 including tip.
Prices and Payment
Price per Person
For breakfast and brunch, I usually paid around €20–30 per person. A smaller dish with coffee came to around €10–20. With a smoothie, dessert, or a fuller order, the bill came closer to €30–40. A generous breakfast for two came to about €50.
Specific Prices
Infused Berry Water cost €4.20. Avocado Power Bowl cost €11.90. Smoked salmon as an add-on for scrambled eggs cost €4.90. The salmon tasted fine, but the portion was too small for that price. Avocado toast felt close to the €15 range, and croissant plus smoothie came close to €30.
Payment Method
I paid in cash. On one visit, two drinks cost €15 including tip. After paying with a larger note, I had to check the change right away because the amount did not match at first. I recommend checking the bill and change immediately. On another visit, I used a discount offer and paid less than the normal total.
Waiting Time and Service
Waiting Time
With a reservation, there was almost no wait. On quieter days, I was seated immediately. On weekends and busy brunch hours, I waited around 10 to 30 minutes. On one very busy visit, the food took almost 50 minutes. Another time, I waited about 30 minutes and was then told that the kitchen was overloaded and could no longer take food orders. That was the weakest visit.
Staff Friendliness
The service was very friendly, warm, and attentive on many visits. Some staff members made the meal much better, especially Nina and Christian. However, the service was not always consistent. On busy days, the order took longer, and one waiter spoke in an unnecessarily harsh tone. The service quality depends heavily on how crowded the restaurant is.
Seating and Atmosphere
Indoor Seating
The indoor area is cozy, modern, and bright. The large windows, warm interior, and attractive plates make it a good brunch spot. However, the tables are close together. I could clearly hear nearby conversations, and a small table became crowded quickly with multiple drinks and plates.
Noise and Crowds
On quiet days, it was easy to talk. During peak hours, it became loud and crowded. When the weather was cold or rainy and nobody could sit outside, the indoor area filled up fast. In winter, a table near the door was cold because the door opened often. I recommend asking for a seat further inside.
Outdoor Seating
The outdoor seating is one of this location’s best points. The small garden and fountain make summer visits much more pleasant. In good weather, eating outside is more comfortable than sitting inside. In bad weather, the indoor area gets crowded quickly.
Parking and Restroom
Parking
You can come by car, but parking is difficult. The area has paid street parking, paid parking lots, and paid parking garages. Finding a free space was not easy. Public transport is the easier option. If you come by car, arrive earlier than your planned meal time.
Restroom
There are restrooms inside the restaurant. They were available during my visits. However, when the restaurant is full, the paths between tables become narrow. Moving with a stroller or wheelchair is difficult during busy hours.
Pros, Cons, and Final Opinion
Pros
The biggest strength is the wide menu. Avocado toast, egg dishes, bowls, burgers, pancakes, waffles, banana bread, smoothies, and coffee are all available in one place. There are many vegetarian and vegan options. Alternative milk such as oat milk and coconut milk is also available. Most dishes tasted fresh and arrived nicely plated. When the service was good, the visit was highly enjoyable.
Cons
The weaknesses are clear. During peak hours, ordering takes too long. Food arrived late on some visits. Some prices are high. The smoked salmon add-on for €4.90 was too small. The Korean Chicken Bowl was too salty once. One bagel had hard avocado, and another bagel had cold eggs. I also experienced a very uncomfortable hygiene issue inside the restaurant once. The stroller situation was not handled well on another visit.
Satisfaction and Revisit
My overall rating is 4 out of 5. The food, menu variety, and atmosphere are strong, but inconsistent service and tight seating remain issues. I would return during a quieter time or with a reservation. For a first visit, I recommend ordering the Avocado Toast Deluxe.
Location Guide
From Promenadeplatz
From Promenadeplatz, walk toward the inner area near Stadtwerke München. The restaurant is not positioned like a simple street-facing venue on the main road; it sits slightly inside the block. From the Burger & Lobster Bank side, walk down toward the area near Pacellistraße and enter the inner square.
From Lenbachplatz
From Lenbachplatz, walk past BMW and Conditorei Café Kreutzkamm Pacellistrasse toward Promenadeplatz. When Herzog Restaurant & Bar appears nearby, the entrance to the inner area is close. The restaurant is easy to miss on a first visit, so look for the smaller space between the buildings.
From St. Michael Church
From St. Michael Church, walk north toward the Maxburg area and continue toward the inner square near the Statue H. Korbinian. Cotidiano Promenadeplatz is then close by. From Frauenkirche, the easiest way is to walk toward Promenadeplatz and look for the quieter inner area.
