Feringapark Stay at a Glance

Feringapark is a hotel in Unterföhring that works well for business trips in northern Munich, short stays, and visits to Allianz Arena. It is not in the city center, but bus and tram connections make it easy enough to reach Marienplatz, Studentenstadt, and Fröttmaning. The room quality changed a lot from one stay to another. Renovated rooms were clean, bright, and spacious. Older standard rooms had worn furniture, stained carpets, and sometimes unpleasant smells. I paid 90 euros per night for a standard room. The lowest rate I had was 75 euros per night, while a busy event period cost 130 euros per night without breakfast. Breakfast was 16.50 euros per person and was one of the strongest parts of the hotel. Underground parking usually cost 15 euros for 24 hours, and once the nearby garage cost 25 euros. Self check-in was fast when the codes arrived properly, but it became frustrating when the reservation number or night entrance code was missing. Overall, Feringapark is not a flawless hotel, but with a renovated room, a fair rate, and breakfast included, it can be a practical Munich hotel choice.

Feringapark Room Types

Standard Room

The standard rooms at Feringapark are basic and suitable for one or two nights. The room had a bed, desk, TV, bathroom, Wi-Fi, and simple storage space. At 90 euros per night, it made sense for Munich when the room was clean. The main issue was consistency. Some standard rooms felt dated, with stained carpet, older furniture, and marks on the walls. One non-smoking room smelled strongly of smoke, and opening the window did not solve it. Power outlets were limited. The desk sockets were already occupied, the nearest outlet by the bed was too far away, and there were no USB ports.

Renovated Room

The renovated rooms were much better. They felt brighter, cleaner, and more modern. The room smelled pleasant, the bed was neatly prepared, and the bedding was fresh. The size was good for one guest and still comfortable for two. The mattresses varied. Some were very soft, while others were already a bit worn. Guests who need a firm mattress should ask before settling in. Some rooms had a small fridge and a safe, which made the stay more convenient. The fridge was especially useful during longer stays or warmer days.

Family Room and Suite

The family rooms and suites offered noticeably more space. A 3-bed family room had enough room for luggage and several guests. The suite had a separate living area with a sofa and a bedroom. Some larger rooms even had two toilets, which was very useful in the morning. From higher floors, some rooms had a view toward Allianz Arena. Still, not every suite felt premium. In older rooms, the sofa, carpet, and furniture were visibly worn. The extra space was helpful, but the room condition was not always suite-level.

Feringapark Check-in and Payment

Self Check-in

Feringapark uses a digital self check-in system. You enter your details online and collect the room card from the terminal. When all codes are available, the process is quick and easy. It is convenient for late arrival or a short business stay. The problems started when the reservation number or entrance code did not arrive. Then the terminal could not complete the process, and waiting at reception became necessary. When only one staff member was available, the wait became long. I waited more than 30 minutes once and almost 40 minutes another time. Entering ID details at the terminal was also rather cumbersome.

Check-out

Check-out was until 11 a.m. and was quick. When there were no extra charges, returning the room card was enough. When breakfast or parking had been added, I paid by card. The uncomfortable part was housekeeping knocking before check-out time. Being woken up shortly after 8 a.m. when check-out is at 11 a.m. is not acceptable for a relaxed hotel stay.

Booking and Payment

I booked online and paid by card. Breakfast and parking were added on-site when needed and also paid by card. I did not use cash. After booking through the hotel website, I received suspicious emails and WhatsApp messages containing my real name, the correct reservation number, and the exact dates. After that, I preferred using a secure booking platform. For important trips, I recommend keeping the reservation confirmation, payment record, and check-in email saved.

Feringapark Room Cleanliness and Bedding

Cleanliness

Cleanliness at Feringapark was inconsistent. Renovated rooms were clean, including the floor, bathroom, bedding, and surfaces. Older rooms had carpet stains, dust, and a musty smell. The worst case was a room with dried stains on the armchair and bed area. After reporting it, I quickly received another room, which was good, but there was no active compensation offer. Another room smelled strongly of smoke. These differences make the room category important at this hotel.

Bed, Pillow, and Linen

The beds were usually good enough for short stays. In the better rooms, the linen was fresh and clean. The pillows had a normal height and were not too firm. The mattresses were often on the soft side. Some were clearly worn, and one single bed was too narrow for a comfortable longer stay. Anyone sensitive about sleep quality should request a renovated room.

Housekeeping During the Stay

Daily room cleaning was not automatic. If I wanted the bed made, fresh towels, or room cleaning, I had to request it online or at reception. For one night this was fine. For four nights or more, it became annoying. At a room rate of around 90 euros per night, towel replacement should be easier.

Feringapark Bathroom and Amenities

Shower and Hot Water

Bathrooms varied a lot. Renovated bathrooms were clean, bright, and pleasant to use. Older rooms had bathtubs with shower curtains, which felt outdated. One room had only a fixed ceiling shower head and no shower cap, which was inconvenient. In some rooms, water pressure was good and hot water was stable. In others, the sink drained slowly, there was mold in the shower area, and hot water was missing in the morning.

Toilet, Towels, and Toiletries

The toilet was usually clean, but not every bathroom was comfortable. Small bathrooms lacked hooks and towel rails. For two guests using large and small towels, there was not enough space to hang them. Towels were usually clean, but replacements had to be requested during longer stays. Soap and shower gel were provided. Extra toiletries should not be expected. In some rooms, the hairdryer was weak or broken.

Feringapark Breakfast

Price and Seating

Breakfast cost 16.50 euros per person. For that price, the selection was good. The Coffee Fellows-style breakfast area felt brighter and more relaxed than many standard business hotel dining rooms. There were enough seats most of the time, but it became tight during busy hours. The tray area was not obvious, so guests often walked back and forth with individual plates, which made the room busier than it needed to be.

Food and Drinks

The buffet included bread, rolls, croissants, pretzels, cheese, ham, jam, fruit, yogurt, cereal, nuts, vegetables, coffee, tea, and juices. Vegetarian spreads and vegan options were available. The coffee was very good. Fruit and cereals were well presented. Hot food was less reliable. Scrambled eggs were missing on some mornings, and when they were available, they tasted bland. Bacon was not something to count on. Once, refilling took about 30 minutes, but the buffet was filled again afterward. Breakfast is still one of the best reasons to book this hotel.

Feringapark Noise and Room Temperature

Soundproofing

Quiet rooms at Feringapark were pleasant and good for sleeping. Other rooms were clearly more sensitive to noise. In some older rooms, I could hear conversations from the hallway and the room next door. The door area was the weakest point. When the hotel was full, the hallways and elevators became louder. Since the hotel has two wings, finding the room can also take a little longer on the first visit.

Heating, Air Conditioning, and Windows

Room temperature was one of the weaker points. Some rooms had air conditioning, others did not. In some rooms, the air conditioning did not work properly. On warm summer days, the room became too hot even with the window open. In winter, some rooms stayed cold even when the heating was turned up. An additional heater was not always provided. Many windows can be opened, which helps with fresh air, but it did not fix smoke or hallway smells in every case.

Feringapark Service and Hotel Facilities

Reception

Reception service was mixed. Friendly staff helped quickly with check-in problems, room changes, and parking questions. There were also times with little help, long waiting, and an irritated tone. Once, I was addressed in an inappropriate way while trying to use the coffee machine. Respectful communication is basic hotel service, and this was not consistent here.

Breakfast Staff and Housekeeping

The breakfast staff were mostly friendly and attentive. Plates were cleared, coffee was available, and the buffet was usually managed well. During busy times, refilling took longer. Housekeeping did what was needed when cleaning was requested. Knocking early before check-out was the main issue.

Coffee Fellows Area and Bar

The Coffee Fellows area on the ground floor is a real advantage. Coffee, water, and seating make the hotel more comfortable. It is good for a short work session or a break before heading into Munich. The bar, however, was unreliable. Although longer opening hours were expected, there was no service on some evenings after 8 p.m. or around 10 p.m. Guests who want a drink at the hotel in the evening should not rely on it.

Feringapark Parking and Overall Opinion

Underground Parking

The underground garage is located directly by the hotel. It usually cost 15 euros for 24 hours. For a longer stay, I paid 100 euros for 10 days. Once, parking in the nearby garage cost 25 euros. The garage was convenient, especially with luggage, and the night access code was useful. On the first visit, the entrance was not immediately obvious. If the plan is mainly to go into Munich, public transport is often easier than driving.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The strengths of Feringapark are breakfast, the Coffee Fellows area, nearby shops, the connection to Allianz Arena, and renovated rooms. The price can also be good for Munich, especially between 75 and 90 euros per night. The weaknesses are self check-in problems, old standard rooms, carpets, smells, inconsistent cleanliness, heating, air conditioning, soundproofing, and the cleaning request system.

Would I Stay Again?

I would book Feringapark again if a renovated room is available and the rate is around 90 euros per night. For a Bayern match, a business appointment in Unterföhring, or a lower-cost Munich stay, it works well. At 130 euros per night without breakfast, I would check the room category and cancellation terms carefully before booking. Guests who expect a fully modern hotel with classic reception service should compare other options.

Feringapark Location and Transport

Allianz Arena, English Garden, and City Center

Feringapark is in Unterföhring near a shopping area with Rewe, dm, MediaMarkt, Decathlon, hagebaumarkt, Lidl, and Edeka. To reach Allianz Arena, take the nearby bus toward Studentenstadt and change to the U6 toward Fröttmaning. To reach Marienplatz, use the same U6 line toward the city center. Depending on the connection, Munich city center takes about 30 to 40 minutes. The English Garden is also close enough for a walk. The hotel is not central, but for shopping, public transport, and stadium access, the location is practical.
