Parkhaus Parkdeck Olympiapark quick overview

Best for location, not for comfort

Parkhaus Parkdeck Olympiapark is one of the most convenient parking options for Olympiapark Munich. It works especially well for Olympiahalle, Sea Life Munich, Olympiaturm, Olympiastadion, Olympiaschwimmhalle, BMW Welt and the BMW Museum. The entrance is easy enough to find with navigation, and the approach is not difficult even on a first visit. The parking deck itself is older, uneven in places and not as clean or bright as a modern car park. For normal cars, parking is generally fine. An SUV can fit as well, but choosing the right space matters because some bays near pillars are tight. The price is the main downside. The first 30 minutes were free. After that, the first hour was around 5 euros and two hours were around 7 euros. I paid around 7 euros for 3 hours, around 11 euros for 5 hours, and the daily maximum was around 15 euros. For Munich and this location, the price is understandable, but it is not cheap, especially if you only visit for a short swim, a quick walk or a brief stop at the park.

Parkhaus Parkdeck Olympiapark entry and exit experience

Easy entry and ticket barrier

The entry to Parkhaus Parkdeck Olympiapark is straightforward. Navigation leads you close to the entrance, and the signs around the Olympiapark area help. The access lane is wide enough for a regular car, and an SUV does not feel difficult at the entrance. The ticket barrier is quick on normal days, and the parking ticket comes out without delay. If you arrive shortly before a concert, exhibition or large event, it can be very different. Cars start queuing before the entrance, so arriving early is the better choice. For Sea Life, the Olympiaturm or a daytime visit to the park, the entry process is usually much easier.

Exit after events

The exit is the part I like least about this car park. On a quiet day, leaving the parking deck is simple enough, and the exit connects reasonably well to the surrounding roads. After events at Olympiahalle or on busy days in Olympiapark, the situation can become frustrating. Cars line up inside the parking deck, and there are moments when nothing moves at all. After a major event, waiting close to an hour before actually getting out is possible. The payment queue and the exit barrier queue can build up at the same time, which makes the whole departure slow. If you need to leave quickly after a concert, park as close to the exit as you can or wait a little after the event before heading to the car. Staff support at the exit was not always good. When help was needed at the barrier, the response was sometimes rude, and that made the long waiting time even more annoying.

Parkhaus Parkdeck Olympiapark parking spaces and driving areas

Bay size and space between cars

The parking spaces at Parkhaus Parkdeck Olympiapark are mixed. Some bays are perfectly usable and wide enough for bigger cars, while others feel tight when the car park is full. A regular car fits without much trouble. An SUV is also manageable, but I recommend avoiding spaces right next to pillars if possible. When both neighboring cars are parked close, opening the doors can be uncomfortable. If you have a stroller, bags or sports equipment, it is better to look for a space along a wider driving lane or near the edge. For less confident drivers, the best option is to take an accessible space early instead of driving deep into the busier inner sections.

Ramps, driving lanes and height limit

The parking deck is not complicated to drive through. There are only a few deck levels, so moving between them is not confusing. The lanes are usable, but the surface and the overall condition show the age of the facility. Some areas are uneven, and the turns require slow driving when there is traffic. The posted entry height is around 2.00 meters. This is fine for most regular cars and many SUVs, but vehicles with roof boxes, higher vans or camper vans should check the height before entering. Buses and motorhomes are better suited to the separate areas closer to the front, not the normal parking deck spaces.

Finding an empty space

On normal days, finding a space at Parkhaus Parkdeck Olympiapark is not difficult. The car park is fairly large, and for a regular visit to the park it usually works well. The problem starts on weekends, during holidays and before major events. Around lunchtime, before exhibitions or just before concerts, the spaces fill up quickly. There were days when the car park was almost full even around midday. The number of spaces is decent, but demand is high because the location is so close to the main Olympiapark attractions. The empty-space guidance is not detailed enough to rely on completely, so you often have to drive around and look for a free bay yourself.

Parkhaus Parkdeck Olympiapark parking fees and payment

Parking prices in practice

The parking fee at Parkhaus Parkdeck Olympiapark depends heavily on how long you stay. The free first 30 minutes are useful if you only pick someone up or make a very short stop. After that, it becomes expensive fairly quickly. The first hour was around 5 euros, two hours were around 7 euros, 3 hours cost around 7 euros, and 5 hours came to around 11 euros. The daily maximum was around 15 euros. For Munich and a car park directly at Olympiapark, the price is not surprising, but it still feels high for a short visit. It is especially important to remember that events are charged by time. Do not assume there will be a cheap flat event rate. Check the tariff before leaving the car if you plan to stay for several hours.

Ticket machines, card payment and cash

Payment is usually done at the ticket machines before returning to the car. There are only a few machines, usually two or three, and that is not enough after big events. One machine may accept cards, including Visa and Mastercard, while another may work mainly with cash or coins. The accepted payment method is shown at the machine, so it is worth checking before joining the wrong queue. After concerts, the payment line can take around 30 minutes. If one machine is out of order or only accepts coins, the queue becomes much worse. Card payment worked, but it was not reliable enough to depend on it completely. I recommend having another card or some cash as backup. Always check the receipt right after payment, because payment problems are much harder to solve without proof.

Mobile payment and online payment

Mobile payment and QR payment are not always smooth here. A phone payment attempt can show as failed, forcing payment at the machine, and later the amount may still be charged. Online payment can save time when it works, especially after concerts, but I would not rely on it as the only option. For this car park, the safest approach is to plan for payment at the machine and do it before the exit rush gets too heavy. If you want to leave right after an event, paying early is one of the few ways to reduce the stress.

Parkhaus Parkdeck Olympiapark facilities, cleanliness and safety

Toilets, pedestrian exits and access

Parkhaus Parkdeck Olympiapark has toilets, which is useful during longer visits. The condition, however, was not always good. The toilets were sometimes poorly maintained, and the smell was unpleasant on certain visits. The pedestrian access to Olympiapark is one of the best things about this car park. Sea Life Munich, Olympiahalle and Olympiaturm are only a short walk away, and it is also manageable with a stroller. The exits and payment machines could be signed better. On a first visit, I recommend taking a photo of the parking area and the nearest pedestrian exit so you can find your car quickly later.

Lighting, cleanliness and night use

The car park has a dark, older feel. The lighting is enough for parking, but it does not feel bright or fresh. At night or during quiet hours, I prefer parking near the exits or in a better-lit area. During events, there are usually enough people around, so it feels less isolated. Cleanliness is one of the weaker points. Some areas had old rubbish, and the deck did not feel well maintained everywhere. For simply leaving the car close to Olympiapark, it does the job. If you expect a clean, modern and comfortable parking garage, this one will disappoint you.

EV charging and accessible spaces

EV charging was not available in the car park. If you come with an electric car, check charging options nearby before you arrive. The accessible parking spaces are better. They are easy to reach and well placed, which is helpful for visitors with limited mobility. The short walking distance to Olympiapark, Sea Life and the main venues is a major advantage. Family parking spaces did not stand out, so I would not choose this parking deck for extra comfort features. Its main purpose is simple: park close to the Olympiapark attractions.

Parkhaus Parkdeck Olympiapark staff and overall satisfaction

Help with payment and exit issues

Most of the time, Parkhaus Parkdeck Olympiapark works without staff involvement. You enter, take a ticket, park, pay at the machine and leave. When everything works, that is fine. When there is a problem with payment, the ticket or the barrier, the experience can become frustrating. Staff support was not always helpful, and the tone at the exit barrier was sometimes unfriendly. After an event, when people are already waiting in long lines, this is exactly where calm and clear help is needed. This is one of the biggest weaknesses of the car park.

Pros, cons and whether I would park here again

The biggest reason to use Parkhaus Parkdeck Olympiapark is the location. It is very close to Olympiahalle, Olympiapark, Sea Life Munich, Olympiaturm, Olympiastadion, Olympiaschwimmhalle and BMW Welt. The walking distance is short, and that matters in such a large area. The spaces are usable, and larger cars can park here if the spot is chosen carefully. The main downsides are the price, the limited number of payment machines, the long queues after events, the older condition, the toilets and the dark atmosphere. I would use it again for a daytime visit to Olympiapark, Sea Life or BMW Welt. For a major concert where I need to leave quickly right after the show, I recommend allowing extra time or comparing public transport and other parking options nearby.

Parkhaus Parkdeck Olympiapark location and nearby landmarks

From Olympiapark, Sea Life and BMW Welt

Parkhaus Parkdeck Olympiapark sits right on the edge of Olympiapark. From the parking deck, it takes only a few minutes to walk to Sea Life Munich and into the park. Olympiahalle, Olympiaturm and Olympiastadion are also easy to reach on foot. BMW Welt and the BMW Museum are on the other side of the large road, so the car park works well if you want to combine both areas in one visit. Olympiazentrum U-Bahn station is also nearby. By car, most drivers approach through the main roads around the Mittlerer Ring. After events, allow extra time for the roads around Georg-Brauchle-Ring and Petuelring.
